Microchip
Before or with the vaccine
ISO 11784 and ISO 11785 are the Great Britain scan standard on approved routes. Not a current MOCCAE import sentence.
Rabies vaccine
At least 21 full days
After the first vaccination, or the last dose of the first course. The wait depends on the vaccine type.
Health certificate
Enter within 10 days
Great Britain pet health certificate from an official veterinarian. Not Model A or Model B.
Tapeworm
Dogs
No less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days before entry. Praziquantel or an equivalent. No dose on this page.
The entry file, in order
GOV.UK sets the Great Britain rules. An official veterinarian in the UAE signs the certificate. This page does not state a MOCCAE export fee or a processing-day promise for that signature.
1. Microchip, then vaccine
Microchip before, or at the same time as, the rabies vaccination. The number goes on the Great Britain pet health certificate, dated before the vaccinations. If the chip cannot be read on entry, the pet can be refused or quarantined.
2. Rabies vaccination
Wait at least 21 full days after the first vaccination, or after the last dose of the first course. The exact wait depends on the vaccine. A listed country does not add the unlisted-country rabies blood test.
3. Great Britain pet health certificate
Signed, stamped and dated by an official veterinarian with authority from their government. If your vet is not an official veterinarian, they need the local authority to complete that step. Enter Great Britain within 10 days of issue. If the journey slips past that window, the certificate has to be done again.
4. Dog tapeworm treatment
Required for a dog from Dubai. Product approved where it is given, containing praziquantel or an equivalent. Timing is no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days before entry. Record name, manufacturer, date and time. No dose is published here.
Notes before you book
- Check the route is approved for pet travel. This page does not publish a complete airport list.
- A pet that misses the rules may be quarantined for up to 4 months, or refused if you travelled by sea. You pay the charges.
- You cannot bring a banned breed of dog into Great Britain unless it already has a valid Certificate of Exemption. This page does not copy that list.
- Snub-nosed animals may be refused by a carrier. This page does not copy a May to September embargo.
- Northern Ireland is not the same path. Do not use this page for Belfast or Derry.
Carriers from Dubai
Ask the airline which product it will accept. Frequency, aircraft type, hold temperature and tariff are not stated here.
Emirates
Confirm the live-animal product in writing. The Emirates rule that an itinerary ending in Dubai is cargo is an inbound rule. Do not reuse it as a UK arrival tariff.
British Airways
Indexed official text says pets travel in the hold, not the cabin. Assistance dogs are a separate arrangement. No flight time, temperature or Dubai tariff is copied here.
Other carriers
Virgin Atlantic and any other airline need their own written acceptance. This page does not state a weekly frequency, a climate hold, or a rate.

How the file is built
There is no single week count. The rabies wait is at least 21 full days after a first course. The certificate window is 10 days.
Chip and vaccine
Fit the microchip before or with the rabies vaccine. Wait at least 21 full days after a first course. We do not issue the vaccine.
Certificate
An official veterinarian signs the Great Britain pet health certificate. Enter within 10 days of issue. We do not promise a one or two day endorsement.
Dog tapeworm
A vet treats the dog inside the 24 hour to 5 day window and writes the product, date and time on the certificate.
Travel day
The animal travels on an approved route with a carrier that has accepted it. We do not publish a flight duration or a clearance time.
What changed in the document name
A pet travelling from Dubai does not use an EU pet passport for Great Britain entry. The listed-country document checked on 22 September 2026 is a Great Britain pet health certificate. Model A and Model B are not that document. Category labels used for other journeys are not repeated here.
The reverse journey, United Kingdom to Dubai, uses the UK export certificate 3926EHC and the MOCCAE import permit. That permit is valid 90 days from issuance. Do not read the 10-day Great Britain certificate window as the MOCCAE permit life.

What document does a pet from Dubai need to enter Great Britain?
On 22 September 2026 the United Arab Emirates was a listed country on GOV.UK. The document is a Great Britain pet health certificate, signed, stamped and dated by an official veterinarian. The pet must enter Great Britain within 10 days of that certificate being issued. Countries that are not listed also need a rabies blood test. That extra blood test is not the listed-country step. These rules are for England, Wales and Scotland. Northern Ireland has different guidance. This is not Model A or Model B, and it is not the UK export certificate used for a pet travelling the other way into Dubai.
Does the microchip have to be fitted before the rabies vaccine?
For entry to Great Britain, GOV.UK says the pet must be microchipped before, or at the same time as, the rabies vaccination. If that order is missed, the pet needs to be vaccinated again. On approved air, train or ferry routes, staff check a chip that meets ISO 11784 and ISO 11785. If the chip does not meet those standards, you may have to bring your own reader. If the chip cannot be read, the pet can be refused entry or put into quarantine. That ISO sentence is a Great Britain entry rule. It is not restated on the live MOCCAE import page as a UAE rejection rule.
How long after the rabies vaccine can the pet travel?
GOV.UK says the wait depends on the vaccine type. It is at least 21 full days after the first vaccination, or after the last dose of the first course. This page does not shorten that wait and does not publish a clinic fee for the vaccine.
What tapeworm rule applies to a dog travelling from Dubai?
A vet must treat a dog for tapeworm each time it enters Great Britain, unless the dog is coming directly from Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Malta or Norway. Dubai is not one of those exceptions. The product must be approved in the country where it is given and must contain praziquantel, or an equivalent proven against Echinococcus multilocularis. Give it no less than 24 hours and no more than 5 days (120 hours) before entry. The vet records the product name and manufacturer, the date and time, and their stamp and signature on the Great Britain pet health certificate. The published step is for dogs. This page does not give a dose.
Is there a guaranteed clearance time or no quarantine?
GOV.UK says a pet may be put into quarantine for up to 4 months if the rules are not followed, or refused entry if you travelled by sea. You pay any fees. This page does not promise a 1 to 2 hour clearance, and it does not promise that a correct file means no quarantine.
Which airline and what does the move cost?
Confirm the carrier and an approved pet-travel route in writing. British Airways indexed text says pets travel in the hold, not the cabin. This page does not publish daily flights, aircraft types, hold temperatures, or a cargo tariff. It also does not publish a package total in AED or GBP. Does a banned dog breed have a Great Britain exception?
GOV.UK says you cannot bring a banned breed of dog into Great Britain unless it already has a valid Certificate of Exemption. This page does not reprint that breed list. The UAE import ban list is a different rule and lives on the banned-breeds guide.
What else should the owner check before booking?
Use an approved route. Fill in the declaration if you are not selling or transferring the pet. Extra Balai rules apply if you will sell or rehome the pet, if it arrives more than 5 days before or after you, or if you are bringing more than 5 pets outside a competition, show or sporting event.
