Origin country rabies risk

Low-risk countries like the UK, Australia, and most of the EU do not require a rabies titer test. High-risk countries like the USA, India, and South Africa require a titer test and a 90-day wait, which adds laboratory fees, extra veterinary visits, and planning time.

Pet size and crate volume

Airline cargo fees are based on volumetric weight. A Great Dane in an XXL crate costs significantly more than a cat in a small crate. The crate itself also becomes more expensive as size increases.

Route and flight availability

Direct routes are usually cheaper and safer than multi-leg itineraries. Some destinations have limited cargo capacity, which drives up pricing during peak seasons.
